Baner, 13th October 2025: Baner police recovered a highly decomposed body beneath a cliff at Baner Hill on Sunday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as a 24-year-old employee at an automotive showroom who had been missing since July 18.

Senior Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant of Baner police said, “The man had left his flat in Baner on July 18. We found a note, apparently written by him, in which he stated that he was ending his life due to an unpaid loan.”

However, the source of the loan remains unclear. “We do not know from whom he had borrowed the money. His bank account does not show any loan transactions in his name,” Sawant added.

The body was discovered after a local resident alerted the police early Sunday morning. “The body was located about 25 metres below a cliff. Our team recovered it, along with an ID card in his pocket, which helped us identify him. His parents later confirmed his identity,” the officer said.

Police had registered a missing person’s case on July 18 and conducted searches in the area, but the man could not be traced at that time. “We suspect he may have consumed poison, as we found a couple of bottles of suspected poison at the scene,” Sawant noted.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the young man’s death.
