Shivajinagar, 16th October 2025: The Pune Book Festival 2025 — a grand celebration of reading, culture, and creativity — will be held from December 13 to December 21 at the Fergusson College grounds. Returning for its third edition, the festival promises to be bigger and more diverse this year, with over 800 book stalls featuring literature in various Indian languages, a vibrant literature festival, cultural programs, and engaging activities for children and writers alike.

National Book Trust (NBT) Director Yuvraj Malik and Festival Chief Convenor Rajesh Pande shared the details at a press conference on Thursday. The event is being organized by the NBT with the support of Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune Municipal Corporation, Deccan Education Society, and Samarth Yuva Foundation, along with full backing from the Maharashtra State Cultural Department.

Malik said the Pune Book Festival has grown each year, both in scale and participation. “This year, we expect more than 1.5 million readers and book lovers to visit. The festival is the second largest book fair in the country, and we hope Punekars will participate in large numbers to make it even grander,” he said.

The festival will be inaugurated on December 13 by a prominent national personality. While last year featured 700 book stalls, this edition will see 800 stalls representing Indian languages and publishers from across the country.

The Literature Festival, which was previously held for three days, has now been extended to six days — three days dedicated to Marathi literary, educational, and ideological discussions, and the remaining three for sessions in other languages. Noted authors, poets, journalists, and artists are expected to participate, with the detailed schedule to be announced soon.

For children, a dedicated corner will feature painting and elocution competitions, workshops, and creative activities. A photography competition on the theme “Joy of Reading” will also be held. In addition, the festival will include 30+ food stalls, cultural performances, and daily book launches, making it a complete family experience.

“Pune Book Festival 2025 is not just a book fair — it is a celebration of knowledge, culture, creativity, and national spirit,” said Pande. “The reading movement in Pune is growing stronger each year. We invite all book lovers, students, parents, and citizens to join this unique celebration.”

The festival will conclude on December 21. Organizers have projected a turnover of several crores, reflecting the strong enthusiasm among readers and publishers.
