Pune: Four-Wheeler Catches Fire After Collision with Dumper on Mulshi Road; Driver Injured
Bhukum, 17th October 2025: A major accident was narrowly averted on Friday morning when a four-wheeler caught fire after colliding with a dumper on the Pune–Kolad road near Bhukum in Mulshi taluka. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, though the driver sustained injuries to his chest.
The incident occurred around 11 am when a car carrying four to five friends was heading towards Pirangut. The driver, identified as Kartik Jayesh Hadke, 21, a resident of Loni Kalbhor, suffered a chest injury in the impact.
According to eyewitnesses, the car rammed into a dumper traveling towards Pune near the Agriculture Department’s seed multiplication area. The front portion of the car was completely crushed, and the vehicle immediately caught fire. The driver escaped with minor injuries as the airbag deployed just in time.
Local residents, including former Bhukum Deputy Sarpanch Sachin Hagavane, Ankush Khatpe, Sagar Mazhire, Mayur Hagavane, and Mangesh Hagavane, rushed to the spot. They brought water from nearby houses and helped douse the flames before fire brigade personnel arrived. The locals also managed to clear the traffic congestion caused by the accident.
The fire brigade later extinguished the remaining fire, preventing it from spreading further and averting a potential disaster.
Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
