Pune, 18th October 2025: As Diwali celebrations light up homes across the city, Pune residents are sending festive snacks to their family members abroad. Since the launch of the Diwali Faral campaign on September 22, more than 10 tons of snacks have been dispatched to various countries, with Japan, Germany, and the UK receiving the highest number of parcels.

Abhijeet Bansode, Director, Postal Services, Pune, said, “This Diwali Faral campaign was started so that people living abroad can also celebrate Diwali with snacks from home. The initiative began in 2023 and has been receiving an excellent response from citizens. Last year, the response was double that of 2023, with over 2 tons of Faral sent abroad. This year too, the response has been very encouraging, and the campaign, which started in Pune, is now active across the state.”

He added, “So far, 1,185 parcels have been sent abroad. The highest number of parcels went to Japan (221), Germany (172), the UK (120), and Australia (104). The campaign will continue until October 31. Recently, America imposed tariffs, and following the notification from DAG headquarters two days ago, we have already sent more than 50 parcels to the US.”

On the nature of items being sent, Bansode said, “Only dry items are included in Diwali Faral; liquid-based items are not sent. All groceries are packed at the post office before dispatch. Over the past three years, we have witnessed a huge response, and this year we expect to send around 2 tons of parcels by October 31.”

The Diwali Faral campaign allows Pune residents to share traditional festive snacks with their loved ones abroad, maintaining a connection with home during the celebrations.
