Pune, 21st October 2025: A solemn ceremony was held on Tuesday morning at the Police Research Centre on Pashan Road to mark Police Commemoration Day, honoring the brave police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar laid a wreath at the Police Memorial and paid homage to the martyrs, saluting their courage and sacrifice. The ceremony was attended by senior police officers, personnel, and family members of the martyred officers from across Maharashtra.

Police Commemoration Day is observed across India on October 21 every year to commemorate the valiant police personnel who lost their lives in the 1959 Hot Springs (Ladakh) encounter. On that day, ten Central Paramilitary Police Force personnel were martyred following an attack by Chinese troops.

In Pune, after Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s tribute, police personnel observed a moment of silence and fired a ceremonial gun salute in honor of the fallen heroes.

Among the dignitaries present were Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Additional Director General of Police (State CID) Sunil Ramanand, Additional Director General of Police (Communications, IT & Transport) Deepak Pandey, Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, and Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, along with other senior officials.

The ceremony reflected deep respect and gratitude for the police personnel who continue to serve and protect the nation, often at great personal risk.
