Hadapsar, 25th October 2025: A violent dispute over bursting firecrackers in Ramtekdi, Hadapsar, on the day of Lakshmi Puja left one man dead and several others injured. The Wanawadi police have arrested one person and registered a case against his accomplices.

The deceased has been identified as Jitendra Parameswar Thosar, 35, a resident of Ramtekdi, Hadapsar. Thosar succumbed to his injuries at a hospital on Friday morning. Khanna Singh Ajit Singh Kalyani, 45, from Sai Mandir, Ramtekdi, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

According to the police, the clash began when one of the accused allegedly threw a firecracker near a Chinese food cart run by Yash Thosar, 30, the nephew of complainant Prajakta Avinash Dedge, a resident of Ramtekdi. Several family members, including Anita Thosar, Ashwini Thosar, Vishwajit Thosar, Vansh Thosar, and Jitendra Thosar, had gathered at the site for Lakshmi Puja worship.

When Yash confronted the accused about the firecracker, Khanna Singh and his accomplices allegedly attacked the group with pipes and sharp weapons. Vansh Thosar and Jitendra Thosar were stabbed, while Dedge’s mother-in-law Neelavati and husband Avinash were assaulted with pipes. Jitendra Thosar sustained critical injuries and died during treatment, said Senior Inspector Bhausaheb Patil of Wanawadi Police Station.

The police said the conflict reportedly escalated after Dedge and Thosar allegedly confronted Khanna Singh’s son and nephew over an argument while bursting firecrackers. The case is being investigated by Police Sub-Inspector Balasaheb Wakade.
