Two Owners Booked After Pet Dogs Bite People in Separate Incidents in Pune
Pune, 28th October 2025: Two separate cases have been registered by the Pune City Police after pet dogs bit two people in different incidents in Khadki’s Range Hills area and Shivajinagar village. The police have booked the dog owners for negligence and for allowing their pets to roam without restraint.
In the first incident, a youth was injured after being bitten by a dog in the Range Hills area of Khadki. According to police, a minor dispute occurred on October 26 when the accused, identified as Joseph Aruldas Moses (47), a resident of Khadki, allegedly threw stones at the complainant’s car. When the complainant confronted him, Moses reportedly released his pet dog, which then bit the complainant. Following the incident, the youth lodged a complaint at Khadki Police Station, and a case has been registered against Moses.
In another case, a youth was bitten by a pitbull near the Samagra Yuvak Kranti Mandal in Shivajinagar village on the evening of October 25. The dog bit the complainant’s leg, causing injuries. Based on the youth’s complaint, Shivajinagar Police Station has registered a case against Akshay Shelar (30), a resident of Shivajinagar, for leaving his pet dog unchained on the road.
Both incidents have raised concerns over pet owners’ responsibility and public safety in residential areas. Police officials have appealed to pet owners to ensure their dogs are restrained in public spaces to prevent such incidents.
