Pune: Army Public School Khadki Celebrates Annual Sports Day 2025-26 with Theme ‘The Glorious Journey of Sports: Ancient to Modern’

Khadki, 28th October 2025: The Army Public School (APS), Khadki, celebrated its Annual Sports Day 2025-26 with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at the Bhagat Pavilion on October 16. The event, themed “The Glorious Journey of Sports: Ancient to the Modern,” highlighted India’s evolution in sports — from traditional games of ancient times to the global sporting achievements of today.

The event was graced by Brigadier Paramjit Singh Jyoti, VSM, Commandant, BEG and Centre and Chairman, SAMC, APS Khadki, as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by Dr Rupinder Kaur, Senior Director, FWO BEG & Centre, along with several dignitaries, officials, former principals, and staff members.

The Sports Meet commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the torch by the Chief Guest, symbolising unity, teamwork, and the spirit of sportsmanship. The torch was carried by the school’s top athletes who have brought laurels to APS Khadki at various competitions. The impressive March Past by the four Houses — Bhagat, Gurnam, Rane, and Shivaji — along with the School Council, was accompanied by the rhythmic tunes of the school band. The School Sports Captain then administered the athletes’ oath, pledging integrity and respect for the spirit of fair play.

Principal Rupan Jaswal presented the Annual Report, highlighting the institution’s academic and extracurricular achievements. A soulful welcome dance by senior students invoked divine blessings and set an energetic tone for the day.

The track and field events began with the participation of the youngest learners from Balvatika, who delighted the audience with fun-filled races like the Bag-Pack Race, Hurdles Race, and Hanuman Race. The Flower Drill performance transformed the field into a vibrant canvas of colours, winning hearts across the stands.

Students from the primary section impressed everyone with their Zumba and aerobics performances, showcasing energy and coordination. The excitement escalated as senior students competed in the 100, 200, and 400-metre relay events, cheered on passionately by their peers.

The highlight of the event was the grand thematic display titled “From Stone Age to Arenas – The Journey of Indian Sports.” Each House presented a creative depiction of India’s sporting evolution — from the primitive Stone Age to the modern Olympic era. Performances paid tribute to the physical endurance and skill of early humans, martial traditions of ancient India, and the valorous spirit of the Maratha, Chola, Rajput, and Sikh warriors. The colonial period segment illustrated how British-introduced games like cricket and badminton became integral to Indian culture. The finale celebrated modern sporting icons like Milkha Singh and Neeraj Chopra, symbolising India’s pride and resilience. The concluding performance, “Desh Rangeela,” brought all participants together in a vibrant display of unity and national pride.

In the prize distribution ceremony, Bhagat House emerged as the overall champion, winning the CCA Juniors and Seniors, Junior Sports, Best March Past, and the Overall Trophy. Rane House secured the Senior Sports Trophy.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Brigadier Paramjit Singh Jyoti congratulated the winners and commended the efforts of the Principal, staff, and students for their teamwork and dedication. His words of encouragement inspired everyone to continue striving for excellence.
The event concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem, as students, staff, and guests stood in unison, marking the end of a memorable and successful Sports Day celebration at APS Khadki.
