Pune, 31st October 2025: A recent survey by the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) has found that only around 30% of Pune Metro commuters are using feeder services such as PMPML buses and autorickshaws for last-mile travel. Regular passengers, however, believe that the number could rise significantly if authorities enhanced frequency, routes, and coordination between services.

Currently, the Pune Metro operates across 30 stations on two routes, catering to nearly two lakh passengers daily. While the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) runs feeder buses from major Metro stations, commuters have raised concerns about inadequate service frequency and limited route coverage.

A commuter from Kothrud said, “Buses are often infrequent, especially during rush hours. The transport utility should consider adding new routes within a 3 km radius of busy stations and ensure more frequent buses in the morning and evening.”

According to Maha Metro officials, the agency is continuously assessing commuter feedback to strengthen last-mile connectivity. “Our study shows that nearly 28–30% of passengers depend on feeder services. We are coordinating with PMPML to improve bus operations and are also planning discussions with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and traffic police to streamline autorickshaw services,” said a senior Maha Metro officer.

Regular Metro users have also urged the introduction of more flexible autorickshaw-sharing options near key stations.

Officials said feedback from such surveys will help shape future feeder service plans to make Metro travel more convenient and seamless for Pune’s growing commuter base.
