Pune: Close Garbage Spots in Public Places Within a Month – PMC Additional Commissioner Pavneet Kaur

Pune, 3rd November 2025: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Additional Commissioner Pavneet Kaur has directed the Solid Waste Management Department to shut down all garbage dumping (chronic) spots in public areas within a month, emphasizing the need to prioritize city cleanliness.
During a review meeting held on Saturday, Kaur assessed the department’s functioning, including penal actions, grievance redressal mechanisms, and night shift operations. She instructed officials to ensure proper segregation of wet and dry waste, with wet waste being treated and disposed of on-site.
Kaur also called for a monthly “deep clean drive” to maintain cleanliness standards across the city. Stressing the importance of community involvement, she directed officials to organize regular meetings with students, NGOs, hoteliers, construction professionals, and housing society representatives to promote civic participation.
Additionally, Kaur ordered the complete closure of all waste transfer centers, underscoring the PMC’s commitment to achieving a cleaner and more sustainable Pune.
