‘Discipline Cannot Be Forced; It Must Come from Within’ – Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar
Pune, 3rd November 2025: The Pune Chapter of CEO Clubs India successfully hosted the second edition of its annual CEO Golf Tournament and Gala 2025 at the Oxford Golf Resort, celebrating leadership, community, and civic consciousness under the theme “Drive With Grace.” The initiative aimed to promote empathy and responsible driving, bringing together over 80 prominent CEOs, founders, and business leaders from across industries.
The day began with an invigorating 18-hole golf tournament at the Oxford Golf Club, designed to foster camaraderie and strengthen leadership bonds through sport. After the morning session, participants attended a networking lunch before the evening celebrations moved to JW Marriott Pune for SAMVARANAM: An Evening of Awareness, Recognition & Celebration.
The gala commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting by Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, IPS, along with Pune Council members Dr. Anil Pillai, Vinayak Savadi, and Deepak Sood.
Event Chair for Golf, Vinayak Savadi, drew parallels between the discipline of golf and the responsibility of driving.
“Golf teaches focus, grace, and patience — values that define our behavior both on and off the course. Just as respect shapes the game, empathy and composure shape our roads and communities,” Savadi said.
Delivering the keynote address, Commissioner Amitesh Kumar emphasized the importance of citizen-police partnership in creating safer streets. “The best partnership between citizens and the police is voluntary compliance with the law. Discipline cannot be forced; it must come from within. Road rage stems from impatience — empathy and self-regulation are the true solutions,” he said.
He further urged Pune residents to play a proactive role in maintaining civic order. “Each one of us must be a participative citizen. The police cannot be everywhere, but when people report violations or intervene positively, we move toward a safer, more disciplined city,” he added.
The cultural segment of the evening featured a Bharatanatyam performance by Priyamvada Savadi and Anooradha Ramnathan, followed by a captivating sand art presentation by Revati Deshmukh and her team, both depicting the importance of road safety and mindfulness. The segment culminated with a Road Safety Pledge, reinforcing the event’s core message — “Drive With Grace.”
Dr. Anil Pillai, President of CEO Clubs Pune, expressed gratitude to participants and highlighted the club’s purpose beyond networking.
“Leadership can often feel lonely at the top. CEO Clubs provides a space where leaders can connect authentically, reflect, and find balance beyond business. It’s about building meaningful, non-judgmental connections,” Dr. Pillai said.
The evening also included the Golf Awards Ceremony, recognizing the winners of the tournament. Manoj Nair won the Gold Division, while Rohit Anand secured top honors in the Silver Division. Dhananjay Date and Hardik Modi were declared runners-up in their respective categories.
The event concluded with a soulful piano recital by Deepak Shah and a networking dinner. The celebration successfully merged purpose, sport, and social responsibility — showcasing that true leadership lies in empathy, collaboration, and conscious action.
