NCERT Launches Free Online Courses for Class 12 Science Students

New Delhi, 3rd November 2025: In a major boost to digital learning, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has launched free online courses in Physics, Chemistry, and Psychology for Class 12 Science students through the government’s SWAYAM platform. The initiative aims to help students strengthen conceptual understanding and enhance board exam preparedness through interactive, accessible, and high-quality e-learning modules.

According to NCERT officials, these online courses are open to all students across India, regardless of school board affiliation. Students can register until February 20, 2026, and access all learning materials, videos, and assessments completely free of cost.

Course Highlights
Chemistry
The Chemistry module includes nine detailed units, covering topics like:
Solid State, Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, and Surface Chemistry.
p-Block, d- and f-Block Elements, and Coordination Compounds.
Each unit features interactive lectures, animations, and nine assessments to help students test their progress and conceptual clarity.

Psychology
The Psychology course offers a comprehensive overview of human behavior, mental processes, and emotional well-being. It includes five key units on:
Psychological traits, stress and coping, mental health and disorders, therapeutic approaches, and social cognition.
The course emphasizes self-awareness and empathy, helping students develop emotional intelligence alongside academic understanding.

Physics
The Physics course has been divided into two comprehensive parts, each focusing on major areas of the Class 12 syllabus.
Part 1: Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Electromagnetic Waves, Electromagnetic Induction, and Alternating Current.
Part 2: Atoms and Nuclei, Electronic Devices, and Communication Systems.
The course is designed to strengthen theoretical understanding and build analytical skills through real-life applications and problem-solving exercises.

Students can register for the courses by visiting the SWAYAM portal (https://swayam.gov.in), selecting their desired subject, and signing up with basic details. All study materials, video lectures, and quizzes are available for self-paced learning.

According to NCERT, the initiative aligns with the Digital India and National Education Policy (NEP 2020) goals to promote digital learning and equitable access to quality education.
