Jaipur, 3rd November 2025: A speeding dumper truck ploughed through 17 vehicles one after another at Loha Mandi in Jaipur’s Harmada area on Monday afternoon, killing 14 people and injuring 12 others. The horrific accident, which left several victims mutilated, occurred around 1 p.m.

According to police, the dumper (registration number RJ-14 GP 8724) was heading from Road No. 14 towards the Loha Mandi petrol pump to reach the highway when it lost control and began hitting vehicles in its path. Eyewitnesses said the driver appeared to be driving recklessly and did not attempt to stop even as people screamed and tried to run for safety.

Locals caught the driver, identified as Kalyan Meena, a resident of Viratnagar, and handed him over to the police. He was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Police said that moments before the crash, the dumper driver had a heated argument with a car driver near a petrol pump about 1.5 km from the accident site. Investigators suspect that the altercation may have triggered the driver’s reckless behavior.

The deceased have been identified as Girja Bai (55), wife of Bhanwar Singh, resident of Road No. 17 Vishwakarma; Suresh Kumar Meena (35) and Mahesh Kumar Meena (35), both residents of Tonk; Vinod Malpani (44), resident of Sudampuri, Harmada; Bhikhi Bai (50), resident of Talera Banaskata, Gujarat; Mahendra Kumar Weaver (38), resident of Weavers’ Mohalla, Sipur, Sikar; and Bhavna Verma alias Bhanu (7), resident of Sipur, Sikar. Seven other victims remain unidentified.

Among the injured, Varsha Kumari (25), Danish (45), Ajay (55), Manoj (45), Deshraj (51), Kamal (40), and Gyan Ranjan (24) are receiving treatment at the SMS Hospital Trauma Center. Ishwar Bhai (36), Nag Ji Bhai (39), and Panna are being treated at Kanwatia Hospital, while two others are admitted to a private facility.

Head Constable Ravindra from Harmada Police Station said the dumper, which was empty, began hitting vehicles from nearly 300 meters away on Loha Mandi Road. “The impact was so severe that several vehicles were crushed and bodies were thrown onto the road. Ambulances and local residents rushed the victims to hospitals,” he said.

Police have registered a case and are conducting further investigation.
