CJP Leaders Meet JP Nadda, Submit Three-Point Memorandum as Thousands Gather at Jantar Mantar
New Delhi, 20th July 2026: Thousands of students, youth, and supporters of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) assembled at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Monday before marching towards Parliament as part of the “Sansad Chalo” protest, demanding accountability over the alleged NEET 2026 paper leak and broader examination irregularities. While no official crowd estimate has been released, multiple reports described the gathering as “thousands” of protesters.
The protest came amid heavy security deployment during the Monsoon Session of Parliament. Delhi Police erected barricades, closed several metro stations, and detained a number of protesters after clashes broke out when demonstrators attempted to march towards Parliament. Police also used tear gas and baton charges to disperse sections of the crowd.
In a significant development, a two-member CJP delegation comprising Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka met Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and submitted a written memorandum outlining the movement’s demands. According to the memorandum, the delegation sought:
Immediate release of education activist Sonam Wangchuk without restrictions on his movement.
Resignation or removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Rs 1 crore compensation for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the alleged NEET 2026 paper leak.
The memorandum also urged the Delhi Police to stop using force against peaceful protesters, stating that the agitation represents the aspirations and concerns of India’s youth.
Speaking after the meeting, CJP Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das said, “Ashutosh Ranka and I have been at J.P. Nadda’s residence since 12 noon. The demands have been conveyed, including the immediate resignation or sacking of Dharmendra Pradhan. The Minister assured us he will discuss this at the appropriate level. However, no commitments have been made so far. The peaceful protesters will not rest until the demand is met.”
Following the meeting, J.P. Nadda said the discussions were held in a cordial atmosphere after the protesters requested talks. He confirmed that the memorandum had been received and appealed to the protesters to end their sit-in and help restore normalcy.
The CJP protest, which began over alleged examination irregularities, has evolved into a nationwide youth movement demanding greater accountability, transparency, and reforms in India’s education system. Solidarity demonstrations were also reported from several cities across the country.
