Pune Music Event: Cantabile’s ‘One Voice’ Concert on November 16 at Sakal Lalit Kalaghar

Pune, 7th November 2025: Cantabile, one of Pune’s prominent institutes for the performing arts, is marking its 10th anniversary with a special musical concert titled ‘One Voice’ on Sunday, November 16, 2025. The event will be held at Sakal Lalit Kalaghar Theatre Academy, Maharashtriya Mandal, Mukund Nagar Road, opposite Bank of Maharashtra, starting at 6.30 p.m.

The concert will feature soulful performances by Cantabile’s two ensembles — the Bel Canto Adult Choir and the Bel Cantilena Children’s Choir. Founded in 2015 by Ferieda Havewala (née Postwalla), Cantabile has become a well-known name in Pune’s cultural scene. Havewala, who has over 35 years of experience in speech, drama, and music, has performed as a pianist, solo soprano, and accompanist to singers and violinists. The institute’s name, derived from the Italian word ‘Cantabile’ meaning “in a singing style,” reflects its philosophy of blending discipline with the joy of music.

Cantabile offers piano, speech, and drama classes to students of all ages and runs two choirs — Bel Canto and Bel Cantilena. The adult choir, Bel Canto, includes members from diverse backgrounds, many of whom joined purely for their love of singing. The group has been performing biannually in Pune and has been a regular participant in the Stop Gaps Christmas programme at the NCPA, Mumbai.

The children’s choir, Bel Cantilena, comprises young singers aged between 5 and 15 from schools across Pune. The group frequently performs alongside the adult choir at charity and community events. Over the years, Cantabile has used its performances to raise funds for several causes, including Sweetlings — a Jehangir Hospital initiative for juvenile diabetics, the Indian Red Cross Society, Eventide Old Age Home, and Helplife, an NGO supporting differently abled girls.

This year’s concert, ‘One Voice’, celebrates unity in diversity through music. The choirs will perform a repertoire of songs from various cultures and languages, blending harmonies that transcend borders. The event’s central message — “We are many voices, but in reality, we are just one voice” — captures the spirit of music as a universal language connecting people from all walks of life.
