Pune, 7th November 2025: Commuters passing through Pune’s busy Swargate junction will need to brace for temporary disruptions this weekend, as the Keshavrao Jagtap Chowk underpass, one of the city’s key traffic arteries, will remain closed for repair and maintenance from November 7 at 11 p.m. and at 7 a.m. on November 10.

The Pune City Traffic Police announced the closure as part of routine upkeep work aimed at improving road safety and ensuring smoother traffic movement in the area. “The underpass will be shut temporarily to facilitate essential maintenance and structural checks,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav, assuring that alternate routes and signage have been arranged to guide commuters.

Alternate Route for Motorists

Vehicles traveling from Keshavrao Jedhe Chowk toward Sarasbaug will be diverted via Anna Bhau Sathe Road, passing through the Anna Bhau Sathe Statue before rejoining the main route. Adequate diversion boards, barricades, and traffic personnel will be deployed to manage the flow and minimize congestion.

The diversion plan is being enforced under Sections 115, 116(1)(A)(B), 116(4), and 117 of the Motor Vehicles Act, empowering authorities to regulate vehicle movement for public safety.

Officials have appealed to motorists to follow on-ground instructions, avoid the area if possible, and plan travel in advance to prevent delays. The maintenance work is expected to improve road quality and enhance commuter safety in one of Pune’s busiest transport zones.
