Pune: High-Rise Blaze Near Navale Bridge Brought Under Control, No Casualties
Narhe, 17th November 2025: A fire incident at a residential building near Navale Bridge on Monday afternoon prompted a swift response from the Navale Fire Station, where firefighters rescued a woman trapped on the third floor and brought the blaze under control without any injuries.
The fire broke out in Flat No. 302/B on the third floor of Sun Orion Society in Kudale Baug, close to Navale Bridge. The flat belongs to Shrikant Chandrashekhar Wadgaonkar. According to officials, the control room received the fire call at 12.58 pm, and the fire brigade reached the site at 3.24 pm.
A team led by STO Prabhakar Umratkar and acting officer Nilesh Pokale, along with firemen Vishal Dhyagude, Aditya More, Rishikesh Humbe and driver Naresh Pangare, immediately began operations after observing thick smoke billowing out of the bedroom of the affected flat. They also noticed a woman stranded in the balcony of the adjacent Flat No. 305.
Firefighters quickly stretched a hose line from the fire tender and carried it through the staircase to the third floor. They entered the smoke-filled flat through the main door and targeted the flames inside the bedroom, eventually bringing the fire under control.
Simultaneously, another team broke open the door of Flat No. 305 and safely rescued the trapped woman, identified as Lajari Ranjit Patil. For safety, the team removed three LPG cylinders from the kitchen of the affected flat and shifted them into the passage.
Officials said valuable items such as gold coins, important documents, a laptop, and jewellery were secured with assistance from the residents. Firefighters also cleared and dampened partially burnt clothes and documents using a spray hose to eliminate any residual risk.
Preliminary information indicates that the flat owner’s wife was at home when the fire erupted. She attempted to douse the flames with buckets of water with the help of neighbours before the fire brigade arrived. The flat is a 2BHK unit.
No injuries were reported. After ensuring the fire was fully extinguished and the site was safe, the fire brigade team returned to the station.
