Pune Municipal Corporation’s Junior Engineer Exam on December 1
Pune, 17th November 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will conduct an online examination on December 1 for 169 Junior Engineer (Civil) posts. The exam will take place across 20 cities in Maharashtra, and a total of 42,000 candidates have applied.
A shortage of junior engineers has slowed down work in several key PMC departments, including construction, roads, drainage, water supply, and project management. To address these delays, the civic body has prioritised the recruitment of junior engineers.
PMC had earlier appointed 135 junior engineers. Following that, applications were sought for 169 additional positions. However, the recruitment process remained pending for nearly one and a half years due to slow administrative procedures. With the municipal election code of conduct approaching, the process has now been expedited to avoid further delays.
The recruitment is being carried out through IBPS. Of the 42,000 applications received, around 8,500 are from Pune city alone. Since applications have come from across Maharashtra, the examination will be held on December 1 in 20 cities, including Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Solapur, Nagpur, Nashik, Amravati, Nanded, and Kolhapur, said Vijaykumar Thorat, Deputy Commissioner, General Administration Department.
Follow-up on Point-Based Reservation List (Bindu Namavali)
Recruitment for 26 posts in PMC has been delayed due to the pending finalisation of the Bindu Namavali (point-based reservation roster). The civic body has corresponded with the Divisional Commissioner’s office regarding this matter. As the roster year ends on August 31, PMC has been asked to submit an updated list.
Thorat added that priority approval has been sought for the Bindu Namavali concerning essential posts such as Junior Engineer (Mechanical), clerks, and doctors.
