Pune, 20th November 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Thursday released the draft voter list for the upcoming civic elections, revealing that 35,51,469 citizens are eligible to vote this year. Of the 41 wards, 10 have a voter count exceeding one lakh, posing a tough electoral challenge for candidates.

Ward No. 9 (Sus–Baner–Pashan) has emerged as the largest ward with 1,60,242 voters, while Ward No. 39 (Upper Super–Indiranagar) has the lowest count at 62,205. Ward No. 38 (Balajinagar–Ambegaon–Katraj), which elects five members, has 1,48,769 voters.

The ward structure and reservation categories for PMC have already been finalised. Following this, the administration published the draft list, which often results in voter shifts between wards. Such transfers frequently cause confusion and can impact political strategies. To avoid irregularities, municipal staff have been instructed to closely monitor the compilation process.

Citizens can raise objections
Residents may file individual objections if errors or wrongful entries are found in the draft list. In cases where voters from two housing societies are divided between wards, the society’s president or secretary may submit objections. However, political workers are not allowed to file collective complaints. Candidates will therefore need to reach out to affected voters personally to register objections.

3 lakh double voters flagged
Of the total voter base, 3,468 individuals have been identified as double voters. Their names have been marked with double stars. Municipal staff will contact these citizens and obtain written declarations determining their preferred polling ward, ensuring they do not vote twice, Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said.
