Pune: No New Leopard Sightings in Aundh; Forest Department Warns Against AI-Generated Images

Aundh, 25th November 2025: A day after a leopard was captured on CCTV roaming near the RBI Staff Quarters and Sindh Society in Aundh, the Pune Forest Department has said there have been no further sightings since early Sunday morning. Officials believe the animal may have already moved out of the residential pocket, but tracking teams remain deployed through the night.
Pune Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) Mahadev Mohite told Punekar News that the situation is stable, but vigilance continues. “There have been no further sightings of the leopard around RBI Staff Quarters near Bremen Chowk or Sindh Society, and it is likely that the animal has moved out of the area,” Mohite said. “The Forest Department and RESQ CT teams remain on continuous alert, prepared to respond swiftly to any genuine incident.”
He also issued a strong advisory to citizens after multiple AI-generated leopard images began circulating in housing groups and on social media. Mohite warned that such fabricated visuals hamper ground response.

“An increasing number of AI-generated leopard images are being circulated. These false visuals create unnecessary fear and, more importantly, delay real response efforts because teams must first verify whether an incident is genuine,” he said. “Responsible reporting is critical. While it is our duty to respond, it is equally the responsibility of every Punekar to avoid sharing unverified or fabricated content.”
The leopard was last seen around 4 am on Sunday (24 November). Teams from the Forest Department and RESQ CT have been patrolling Aundh through the night using thermal drones and advanced tracking tools.
“We will update if there are any further developments,” Mohite added, urging citizens to stay alert but refrain from circulating unverified information.
