Pune: Minor Girl Rescued After Cross-Country Search; Fursungi Police Arrest Youth and Stepmother
Fursungi, 25 November 2025: A month-long interstate search concluded successfully after Fursungi Police traced a missing 13-year-old girl to Uttar Pradesh and arrested the youth who allegedly abducted her, along with his stepmother who reportedly assisted in the crime.
Police identified the accused as Ramesh Masanaji Pittalwad (25) of Dhagnagar Vasti, Uruli Devachi—originally from Nanded—and his stepmother Muktabai Masanaji Pittalwad (35) from Hingewadi. A kidnapping case had already been registered against both.
According to investigators, Ramesh became acquainted with the girl while living in Pune. He allegedly lured her away with false promises of marriage. Police said Muktabai not only supported the plan but also advised him to shift the girl to their relatives’ home in Hyderabad and even helped finance the journey. The pair then boarded a train and travelled to the city.
Once the girl’s family reported her missing, the police launched a detailed probe. Muktabai was detained early in the investigation, during which she revealed that Ramesh and the minor had left for Hyderabad. However, by the time police teams reached the city, the duo had already fled.
Continuous technical surveillance later placed Ramesh in Bamanouli village in Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh, where he was believed to be hiding with relatives. Acting on this lead, a team headed by API Nanasahab Jadhav—under the guidance of Senior Inspector Amol More and Crime Inspector Rajesh Khande—travelled to UP to pursue the case.
With support from local authorities, police conducted an intensive four-day search operation. Ramesh was eventually traced to his aunt’s residence, and the minor was rescued unharmed. Investigators revealed that he had been on the move with the girl since 18 October.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Rajkumar Shinde.
