Alandi, 25th November 2025: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has approved the allocation of four acres from its eight-acre land parcel in Alandi to the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML).

The proposal, submitted by PMPML through the Divisional Commissioner’s Office, has received the green signal, and the land is expected to be handed over soon. PMPML plans to construct a new depot on the site, with capacity for approximately 80 buses.

At present, PMPML does not have a depot in Alandi. Owing to the high footfall of devotees, a small bus stand was created to meet travel demands, and around 125 buses operate from this temporary facility every day.

Given the rising number of visitors, PMPML had been searching for suitable land in recent weeks to set up a full-fledged depot. PMPML Chairman Pankaj Devre submitted the land requirement proposal to Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar, who forwarded it to the MSRTC headquarters.

On Monday, Devre met MSRTC Managing Director Dr. Madhav Kusekar, who confirmed that the corporation would allot the land to PMPML. Technical formalities are likely to be completed in the coming days.

Alandi, a major pilgrimage destination, witnesses a significant inflow of devotees from across Maharashtra. The lack of a dedicated depot has been affecting PMPML’s operations in the area.

The allocation of four acres to PMPML is expected to improve public transport services and streamline bus movement for commuters and pilgrims.
