Destinations represented include Nepal, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Thailand, Bhutan, and several European nations.
The exhibition features state and international tourism boards, destination management companies, airlines, cruise operators, hotels, travel technology providers, and destination wedding specialists. Organisers have also planned networking sessions, special travel deals, destination presentations, and business engagement opportunities for domestic, outbound, and experiential tourism segments.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Hakhu, Director, Sphere Travelmedia & Exhibitions, said that the Pune edition continues to play a crucial role in expanding business opportunities in one of India’s fastest-growing travel markets. Co-Director Rohit Hangal added that increasing national and international participation reflects the industry’s confidence in the region’s travel potential.
Dedicated pavilions have been set up for domestic tourism, international destinations, luxury travel, technology solutions, and sustainable travel initiatives.
Industry experts noted that Pune remains a high-potential tourism market due to its strong economy, large young workforce, rising disposable income, and increasing demand for luxury and overseas travel. Improved airport connectivity and proximity to Mumbai have also boosted outbound tourism.
India’s outbound travel sector is witnessing rapid growth. As of December, over 96 million Indians hold passports, with the number expected to exceed 100 million this year. The outbound market is projected to grow at a CAGR of more than 11% and cross USD 44 billion by 2032. Indian travellers also enjoy visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 57 countries and are counted among the world’s highest spenders per overseas trip.
The India International Travel Mart will remain open to travel trade professionals and the general public until Friday, November 29.
