Hinjawadi, 3rd December 2025: A well-known international school located in the Hinjawadi IT Park area triggered concern on Wednesday after its administration received an email stating that an explosive device had been planted inside the campus. The email sender has not yet been tracked, but the alert led to immediate action from law enforcement authorities and anxious moments for parents and staff.

Soon after the threat message was noticed, the school informed the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police, who rushed to the location along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and a sniffer dog team. A detailed inspection of every block and facility was launched, while access to the premises was restricted.

“The school received the email this morning and quickly contacted us,” said Police Inspector (Crime) Rushikesh Ghadge from Hinjawadi Police Station. “Our teams are carrying out a thorough search of the entire campus. At this stage, it appears the threat may not be genuine, but we will only be certain after completing all security checks. Students and staff have been safely moved out as a precaution.”

Mahindra International School, formerly Mercedes-Benz International School (MBIS), located in the heart of Pune’s IT hub, offers the International Baccalaureate curriculum from primary to diploma levels. The day-cum-residential school has around 230 students and promotes inquiry-based learning, creative thinking and global exposure.

The institution boasts modern facilities including advanced classrooms, science and computer labs, a multi-level library, indoor and outdoor sports areas, and a swimming pool. A dedicated medical unit with periodic doctor visits and tie-ups with a neighbouring hospital is part of its safety framework. The school also focuses on extracurricular development through cultural programmes, sports training and weekend activities.

Police have assured that surveillance will continue until the source of the email is traced and the situation is fully verified. Further updates are awaited.
