24 Vande Bharat Trains Now Serve Maharashtra; Pune on Key Routes
Pune/Mumbai, 3rd December 2025: Indian Railways continues to operate and introduce trains across state and parliamentary constituency boundaries to meet network requirements, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity nationwide.
In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that 164 Vande Bharat train services are currently operational across the country. Of these, 24 Vande Bharat Express services serve stations in Maharashtra, including multiple services connecting Pune.
According to the Railway Ministry, the Vande Bharat trains linked to Maharashtra include:
26101/26102 Pune–Ajni Vande Bharat Express, introduced on 11 August 2025, operating six days a week.
20101/20102 Nagpur–Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express, introduced on 19 September 2024, operating six days a week.
20669/20670 Hubballi–Pune Vande Bharat Express, introduced on 18 September 2024, operating three days a week.
20673/20674 SCSM(T) Kolhapur–Pune Vande Bharat Express, introduced on 18 September 2024, operating three days a week.
22961/22962 Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express, introduced on 9 March 2024, operating six days a week.
20705/20706 H S Nanded–Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj(T) Vande Bharat Express, introduced on 30 December 2023, operating six days a week.
22229/22230 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj(T)–Madgaon Vande Bharat Express, introduced on 28 June 2023, operating six days a week.
20911/20912 Indore–Nagpur Vande Bharat Express, introduced on 27 June 2023, operating six days a week.
22223/22224 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj(T)–Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat Express, introduced on 11 February 2023, operating six days a week.
22225/22226 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj(T)–Solapur Vande Bharat Express, introduced on 11 February 2023, operating six days a week.
20825/20826 Bilaspur–Nagpur Vande Bharat Express, introduced on 12 December 2022, operating six days a week.
20901/20902 Mumbai Central–Gandhinagar Capital Vande Bharat Express, introduced on 30 September 2022, operating six days a week.
The ministry also informed the House that to improve convenience for passengers from Parbhani, the 20705/20706 Jalna–Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj(T) Vande Bharat Express has been extended to H S Nanded via Parbhani from 28 August 2025.
Introduction of new trains depends on factors such as section capacity, availability of train paths, rolling stock readiness, compatible infrastructure and maintenance requirements.
Indian Railways receives proposals from Members of Parliament, elected representatives, organisations and rail users for new services. These are reviewed at Railway Board, zonal and divisional levels, with action taken based on feasibility.
Expenditure related to infrastructure and Vande Bharat trains is part of the overall maintenance and upgradation budget of Indian Railways, covering both revenue and capital segments.
