Kothrud, 4th December 2025: A Kothrud-based woman, already facing an earlier allegation of blackmail, has been booked in a second case, this time by Mundhwa Police, for allegedly extorting a Ghorpadi resident by threatening to implicate him in a false rape case. The back-to-back complaints have raised concerns among police about a possible pattern of targeted exploitation.

The latest complaint has been filed by a 37-year-old man from BT Kawade Road, who alleges that 38-year-old Gauri Pralhad Wanjale demanded Rs 2 lakh from him and pressured him to marry her. When he refused, she allegedly threatened to file a fabricated rape case against him. The Mundhwa Police have registered offences under Sections 308(7) and 352.

Accused Posed as High Court Lawyer, Says Complainant
According to the complainant, Wanjale first approached him during his marital dispute, introducing herself as a High Court lawyer who could help him with legal procedures. Gaining his trust over time, she allegedly became close to him and then began demanding marriage.

The man told police that the harassment continued for nearly three months. He claims she repeatedly abused him, contacted his mother, and issued threats such as: “Marry me or give me Rs 2 lakh, otherwise I will file a rape case against you.”

Unable to bear the pressure any longer, he filed a formal complaint with the Mundhwa Police Station.

Another Similar Case Already Registered
Police confirmed that this is not the first allegation of this nature against Wanjale. Just weeks ago, Kothrud Police registered a case after a 47-year-old man from Kolhapur accused her of drugging him, assaulting him and later attempting to extort money by threatening to level serious allegations.

Investigating teams from both Kothrud and Mundhwa police stations are now examining the cases in parallel.
