Pune, 9th December 2025: With unauthorized flex boards mushrooming across the city ahead of elections, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced a steep penalty of up to ₹15,000 per illegal display. Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said the city is facing severe visual pollution and revenue loss due to the widespread flex menace.

Ram directed all PMC departments to intensify removal drives and ensure that action is taken without bowing to political pressure. “No one will be spared just because they are political leaders,” he stated.

Despite earlier orders and the registration of several FIRs, political and non-political banners have resurfaced in large numbers on electric poles, traffic signal posts, chowks, and other public spaces — mostly for birthday greetings, event promotions, and political advertisements.

Officials from the Sky Sign Department, Licensing Department, and Anti-Encroachment teams have been asked to tighten enforcement in view of the upcoming polls. The fine, previously only ₹1,000 per illegal flex, is now being raised to ₹10,000–₹15,000 to deter repeat violations.

Ram said that notices will be issued within the next two days, and unauthorised hoardings will be removed across the city without exception.
