Pune, 9th December 2025: Pune woke up to a chilly morning on Tuesday, December 9, with the minimum temperature dropping to 8.9°C. Shivajinagar and Pashan recorded similarly low temperatures, touching 8.4°C.

This dip in temperatures comes as northerly winds continue to sweep into Maharashtra, marking the third consecutive day of a steady decline in the minimum temperature. The city had recorded 11.3°C on Monday, December 8, after 12.9°C on Sunday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast clear skies for the next two to three days, indicating that the cold spell is likely to continue. Several parts of Pune district also registered single-digit temperatures, including Malin, Daund, and Talegaon at 9°C each, while Baramati recorded 9.2°C.

Despite a drop in temperatures across the city, Pune has seen a slight improvement in air quality over the past 24 hours. The overall Air Quality Index (AQI), which stood above 200 in the ‘poor’ category on December 8, has now fallen to 160, placing it in the ‘moderate’ range. Five out of six active monitoring stations recorded AQI levels between 109 and 192. However, Shivajinagar continued to report higher pollution levels, with its AQI reaching 245.
