Mumbai/Pune, 14th December 2025: The journey of Flying Cadet Bhavya Shah is a testament to quiet perseverance, one that began in the fast-paced life of Mumbai and culminates in the disciplined ranks of the Indian Air Force, where he is set to be commissioned this week.

Bhavya’s early life saw a significant shift when his family moved away from Mumbai following his father’s transfer. The change from a bustling metropolis to a quieter town was challenging, but it shaped his character early on, instilling resilience that would guide him through future trials.

While pursuing his college education in Pune, Bhavya took up a part-time job at McDonald’s, balancing academics with work. Reflecting on the experience, he says, “It was my first taste of independence. I learned to manage my finances, my time, and myself.” The lessons from those days, he notes, later became invaluable during his demanding military training.

His aspirations took a decisive turn after joining the Air Squadron of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Pune. Wearing the uniform, attending camps, and flying microlight aircraft brought clarity to his ambitions. “That is when my dream of serving the nation truly became real,” he recalls.

The road to success, however, was far from smooth. Multiple Services Selection Board (SSB) attempts and years of preparation tested his patience and resolve. Yet persistence paid off when he joined the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, in April 2024.

Within just three months of training, Bhavya earned a place on the Indian Air Force merit list, ranking among the top candidates. Choosing to don the blue uniform, he realised a long-cherished ambition of becoming a pilot in the Air Force.

From managing orders at a fast-food counter to preparing for flight training at the Air Force Academy, Bhavya’s journey stands as an inspiring example for young aspirants across the country. His guiding principle, borrowed from his NCC seniors, remains close to his heart—“Tagda Raho” (Stay Strong).

Bhavya Shah will be commissioned on December 13, 2025, during the Combined Graduation Parade of the 216th Course, marking the beginning of his service to the nation and the fulfilment of a dream built on discipline, patience, and unwavering belief.
