Swargate, 24th December 2025: National Consumer Day was observed at Swargate Metro Station on Wednesday under the guidance of District Collector Jitendra Dudi, with the programme drawing an enthusiastic response from citizens. The event was organised to create awareness about consumer rights, protection mechanisms and grievance redressal systems.

District Supply Officer Mahesh Sudhalkar, President of Akhil Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat Pune Metropolitan Vilas Lele, members of the District Consumer Protection Council, Advocate Tushar Zende, Advocate Anita Gawli and other officials were present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Sudhalkar appealed to citizens to actively participate in awareness programmes conducted by the district administration. He said such initiatives aim to protect consumers from fraud, educate them about their rights and inform them about the available grievance redressal mechanisms in case of cheating or unfair trade practices.

Lele said protecting consumer rights and preventing fraud is a collective responsibility. He added that the Akhil Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat offers free guidance and support to consumers facing issues related to goods and services.

Advocate Zende said this year’s National Consumer Day theme is “Towards Fast, Accessible Digital Justice.” He described the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 as a citizen-centric law and stressed the need for both the administration and citizens to spread awareness about its provisions. He informed citizens that complaints related to consumer fraud can be filed through the helpline number 1915, the chatbot number 8800001995, or the website e-jagriti.gov.in, and urged wider use of these digital platforms.

During the event, dignitaries also visited information stalls set up by various departments at the venue and interacted with officials to learn about the services and consumer-related initiatives being offered.
