PMPML to Observe ‘Punctuality Week’ to Ensure On-Time Bus Services in Pune
Pune, 26th December 2025: To enhance service reliability and ensure buses run on schedule, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) will observe a ‘Punctuality Week’. The initiative aims to provide commuters with timely bus services while promoting stricter discipline among employees.
PMPML Chairman Pankaj Deore said the move comes after the successful implementation of previous initiatives such as ‘Field Week’ and ‘Cleanliness Week’, conducted about two weeks ago. “During these drives, officials carried out on-ground inspections of bus cleanliness, technical conditions, employee performance, and commuter complaints. Based on the shortcomings identified, corrective measures are currently underway. The next phase will focus specifically on punctuality, which is a key parameter of service quality,” he added.
During Punctuality Week, PMPML will monitor the percentage of on-time trips, review routes that frequently experience delays, and examine routes where services are often cancelled. To minimize delays caused by technical issues, instructions have been issued to ensure immediate repairs at the workshop level.
Officials noted that delayed bus services often force commuters to wait for long periods at bus stops. Irregular attendance, late reporting, and non-compliance with rules by staff have also been cited as major causes of operational disruptions. To address these issues, PMPML has directed that daily review meetings be held during Punctuality Week to assess performance and implement prompt corrective measures.
The administration warned that employees failing to adhere to scheduled timings will be identified and face necessary disciplinary action. The transport undertaking is also implementing other measures to reduce passenger complaints, with Punctuality Week forming a key part of these efforts.
“The most important expectation of commuters is that buses should arrive on time. Through Punctuality Week, we are making focused efforts to deliver timely services and improve overall discipline in operations,” Chairman Pankaj Deore said.
