Interfaith Romance Leads to Murder; Police Arrest Two Accused

Ambegaon, 27th December 2025: The Ambegaon Police have successfully solved the brutal murder case of a 34-year-old man by arresting two accused from Nanded. The incident, which occurred due to a dispute over an interfaith romantic relationship, took place at a washing centre in Ambegaon Budruk earlier this week.

The deceased has been identified as Javed Khadimiya Pathan (34). The arrested accused are Sandip Rangrao Bhurke (25) and his accomplice Omprasad alias Datta Ganesh Kirkan (20), both residents of Chikhalwadi, Bhokar, Nanded.

According to Senior Police Inspector Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zhine, the incident occurred on December 22, 2025, around 6:45 PM at the Gurudutt Washing Centre near Gaymukh Chowk, Ambegaon Budruk. The victim, Javed Pathan, worked at the centre.

Police investigations revealed that Javed was in a relationship with the sister of the main accused, Sandip Bhurke. Enraged by this affair, Sandip, along with his friend Omprasad, confronted Javed at his workplace.

Following a heated argument, the duo attacked Javed with iron weapons, inflicting severe injuries on his head and hands before fleeing the spot.
Javed succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. A case was subsequently registered by Rauf Usman Shaikh at the Ambegaon Police Station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, Sections 103(1) (Murder) and 3(5), along with relevant sections of the Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act.

During the investigation, the police received information that the victim and the accused were originally neighbours from Bhokar in Nanded district and that the accused had fled to their native village after the crime.

Acting swiftly, a team led by PSI Mohan Kalamkar from the Detection Branch (DB) was dispatched to Nanded. With the assistance of the local police in Bhokar and Nanded City, the team traced and detained the suspects. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, citing their anger over the victim’s relationship with Sandip’s sister as the motive, Inspector Zhine said.

The accused have been formally arrested and produced before the court, which has remanded them to police custody until January 1, 2026.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Addl CP (West) Rajesh Bansode, DCP (Zone 2) Milind Mohite, and ACP (Bharati Vidyapeeth) Rahul Awar.

The detection team included Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zhine, Police Inspector (Crime) Gajanan Chormale, PSI Mohan Kalamkar, and constables Chetan Gore, Nilesh Jamdade, Harish Gaikwad, Dhanaji Dhotre, Sachin Gade, Pramod Bhosle, Nitin Katurde, Subhash More, Yogesh Jagdale, Shivaji Patole, Ajay Kamthe, Dnyaneshwar Chitte, and Rakesh Tekawade.
