Pune Shocker: Husband Strangles Wife to Death Over Childlessness, Surrenders to Police

Hadapsar, 28th December 2025: A 27-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband following frequent domestic disputes over not having a child. The incident took place in the Bhekarainagar area of Hadapsar. After the incident, the accused husband surrendered himself at a police outpost. Fursungi police have arrested him in connection with the case.

The deceased has been identified as Priyanka Akash Dodke (27), a resident of Gurudatta Colony, Bhekarainagar, Fursungi. The accused is her husband, Akash Vishnu Dodke (35). A complaint in this regard was lodged by the victim’s brother, Sagar Ramdas Adagle (35), a resident of Nangaon in Daund taluka of Pune district.

According to police, Akash and Priyanka were married in 2018. Akash worked as a driver for a private vehicle. His parents and brother reside in the Sinhagad Road area. After the marriage, the couple reportedly had frequent arguments as they did not have a child. Police said that in recent days, the accused had also started suspecting his wife’s character, leading to repeated quarrels and physical assault.

On Friday night (December 26), another argument broke out between the couple. During the altercation, Akash allegedly assaulted Priyanka and strangled her, leaving her unconscious. He then went to a police outpost and confessed to killing his wife, police said.

Following the confession, police rushed to the spot and shifted Priyanka to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead before treatment could begin. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is being carried out by Assistant Police Inspector Nanasaheb Jadhav.

Police have registered a case of murder and said further legal action is underway.
