Pune: Gautam Adani Calls Sharad Pawar His ‘Mentor’ at Baramati Event
Baramati, 28th December 2025: Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on Sunday described NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar as his “mentor”, drawing loud applause from the audience during a programme in Baramati. Adani expressed deep respect for Pawar, calling him a guide and guru who has shaped leadership and development thinking in the country.
Adani was speaking at the inauguration of the Vidya Pratishthan Sharadchandra Pawar Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence, a state-of-the-art facility aimed at transforming rural life through advanced technology. The centre was inaugurated by Gautam Adani and Adani Foundation Chairperson Priti Adani.
Beginning his nearly half-hour-long address with praise for Sharad Pawar, Adani said some places in the world are not just points on a map but symbols of progress, transformation and the ability to turn the impossible into reality. “Baramati is one such place. It is seen as a symbol of change, and Sharad Pawar’s work stands as an example of how leadership can achieve extraordinary development,” he said.
Recalling his multiple visits to Baramati, Adani said Pawar’s contribution goes far beyond local development. He credited Pawar for comprehensive progress in agriculture, strengthening the cooperative movement, encouraging entrepreneurship, building educational institutions and shaping industrial policies. “By integrating all these efforts, he has turned Baramati into a guidebook for India’s development journey,” Adani said.
Adani further said that when the country needed both transformation and stability, Sharad Pawar stood firm. He noted that whether as Union Minister, Chief Minister or party leader, Pawar consistently pursued policies in the national interest, a quality rarely seen in leaders. “He demonstrated that markets remain stable only when farmers are prosperous,” Adani added.
The inauguration of the AI centre is being seen as a significant step towards leveraging artificial intelligence for rural development, education and innovation, with Baramati once again positioned at the forefront of progressive initiatives in Maharashtra.
