Self-Immolation Warning Over Ajit Pawar NCP Ticket to Andekar Family for PMC Elections 2026
Nana Peth, 28th December 2025: With the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) general elections scheduled for January 15, 2026, political activity has intensified across the city, with parties holding meetings on seat-sharing and strategy. However, no political party has so far announced its list of candidates.
Amid these developments, controversy has resurfaced in connection with the Nana Peth murder case. Kalyani Komkar had earlier alleged that gangster Bandu Andekar, seeking revenge for the murder of former corporator Vanraj Andekar of the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction, had orchestrated the shooting death of her grandson Ayush Komkar through his associates.
In the case, Pune Police arrested Bandu Andekar along with 13 others. Several shocking details have emerged during the investigation, which is still underway. Meanwhile, Bandu Andekar, Laxmi Andekar and Sonali Andekar approached the court seeking permission to file nomination forms for the upcoming PMC elections.
Taking note of their plea, the court allowed the three accused to file their nomination forms subject to certain conditions. Accordingly, Bandu Andekar, Laxmi Andekar and Sonali Andekar arrived at the Bhavani Peth ward office to submit their nomination papers. Pune Police deployed heavy security at the venue to prevent any untoward incident.
Political circles are abuzz with speculation that the three accused may receive candidatures from the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction from the Nana Peth area.
Amid these developments, Kalyani Komkar, daughter of Bandu Andekar and mother of the deceased Ayush, held a press conference on Friday, strongly opposing the candidature of the three accused. Addressing the media, she said her son was murdered by the Andekar gang despite having no involvement in any dispute.
“My son was innocent, yet he was killed. I am still fighting for justice for him. Vanraj Andekar was my brother. Why would I give a contract to kill my own brother? We have done nothing wrong, yet we are suffering. My son had no enmity with anyone, still he was murdered by the Andekar gang,” she said.
She demanded strict punishment for all those involved in the case and expressed confidence that the court would deliver justice.
Referring to the PMC elections, Komkar said Bandu Andekar, Laxmi Andekar and Sonali Andekar are planning to contest the polls and had filed their nomination forms a day earlier. She alleged that Bandu Andekar raised slogans while coming to file the nomination, which she termed inappropriate. “I will approach the court against this. The court should not have allowed these three accused to file nomination forms,” she said.
Komkar further alleged that the nomination forms were deliberately filled incompletely and claimed there was a possibility of the three being given tickets by the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction. Issuing a strong warning, she said Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar should not allot tickets to any member of the Andekar family. “If tickets are given to them, I will resort to self-immolation outside the party office,” she warned.
