Pune Rural Police Crack Khanapur Jewelry Heist in 48 Hours; 5 Arrested, Gold Worth Rs 70 Lakh Recovered

Pune, 30th December 2025: In a major breakthrough, the Pune Rural Police have solved the daring armed dacoity at Vaishnavi Jewelers in Khanapur village within 48 hours, arresting a gang of five hardened criminals including three minors. The police have recovered 56 tolas of gold ornaments worth approximately ₹70.32 lakh from the accused.
The incident, which sent shockwaves through the rural Haveli taluka, occurred on December 26, 2025. A gang of five men arrived on two motorcycles, barged into the jewelry shop in broad daylight, and terrorized the owner and staff with koytas (sickles) and pistols before fleeing with gold ornaments.
Superintendent of Police (Pune Rural) Sandeep Singh Gill formed multiple investigation teams, including officials from the Local Crime Branch (LCB) and Haveli Police Station, to track down the culprits. Utilizing technical intelligence and CCTV footage, the police traced the gang’s movements to the forest area near Singapur village in the ghat section.
Speaking to the press, Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill said, “The robbery created an atmosphere of fear in the Khanapur area. We took this as a challenge and formed six dedicated teams. Our officers worked non-stop for 48 hours to identify and apprehend the accused. We have successfully recovered a significant portion of the stolen property, including 56 tolas of gold and the vehicles used in the crime.”
The main accused, identified as Ankush Dagdu Kachare (resident of Singapur, Tal. Haveli), was arrested along with his four accomplices. Police investigations revealed that the gang had planned the heist meticulously, using stolen vehicles to evade detection.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of SP Sandeep Singh Gill and Additional SP Ramesh Chopade, with the detection team led by LCB Police Inspector Avinash Shilimkar and Haveli Police Inspector Vaishali Patil.
The accused have been remanded to police custody, and further interrogation is underway to recover the remaining stolen valuables. The prompt action by the Pune Rural Police has been widely appreciated by the local trading community and residents.
