PMC Elections 2026: 2,298 Nomination Papers Filed on Last Day Across Pune

Pune, 30th December 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has recorded a heavy rush of candidates filing nomination papers on the final day of nominations for the PMC General Elections 2025–26, following the election programme announced by the Maharashtra State Election Commission.
According to the PMC Election Office, elections will be held across 41 wards to elect 165 corporators. For this purpose, offices of 15 Returning Officers have been set up across the city. Between December 23 and December 29, a total of 11,756 nomination forms were sold, while 470 forms were sold on December 30 alone.
During the same period from December 23 to December 29, as many as 743 nomination papers were filed. On December 30, till 7 pm, a total of 2,298 nomination papers were submitted across all Returning Officer offices in Pune. The highest number of nominations were filed from Bhavani Peth (224), Hadapsar-Mundhwa (213), Yerwada-Kalas-Dhanori (182), and Dhankawadi-Sahakarnagar (183).
Other areas that witnessed significant filings included Kothrud-Bavdhan (174), Warje-Karvenagar (171), Kasba-Vishrambaug Wada (160), Bibvewadi (162), Shivajinagar-Ghole Road (148), and Nagar Road–Vadgaon Sheri (141).
The nomination papers submitted by candidates present at the Returning Officers’ offices were accepted at 3 pm on Tuesday, following which preliminary scrutiny began. Election officials clarified that the figures are provisional and subject to change.
