Pune Police Deport 104 Foreign Nationals in 2025, Majority Bangladeshi
Pune, 31st December 2025: Pune Police expelled 104 foreign nationals from the city in 2025, marking a significant increase in deportations compared to the last two years, officials said during the annual police press conference.
Of those deported, the largest group comprised Bangladeshi nationals, numbering 81. Police said their removal followed a recent court directive. In addition, three citizens from African countries and 20 individuals from other nations were also sent back.
By comparison, in 2024, the city saw the deportation of one Bangladeshi national, 25 people from African countries and 31 foreign nationals from other regions. In 2023, a total of 18 undocumented migrants were deported from Pune.
Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma said action against illegal immigration would remain a key focus area for the police. He said the department is strengthening intelligence-led operations and coordination with multiple agencies to identify undocumented foreigners.
“Whenever an illegal immigrant is traced, their documents are thoroughly verified. Information about suspicious individuals is shared with intelligence agencies for further scrutiny,” Sharma said, adding that most of the undocumented migrants found in Pune had come to the city in search of employment.
