Pune RTO Raises Daily Slot Limit for Permanent Driving Licence Tests from January 5
Pune, 31st December 2025: The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has decided to expand the number of daily appointments available for permanent driving licence tests in an effort to reduce backlog and improve access for applicants. The revised quota will come into effect from January 5, 2026, officials confirmed.
As per the new arrangement, additional test slots will be available at two locations — the Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR), Kasarwadi, and the Alandi Road RTO office at Phulenagar. Appointment bookings will remain open every day between 6 am and 4 pm.
RTO officials clarified that the Phulenagar facility will exclusively conduct tests for two-wheeler licences, while all four-wheeler and other vehicle category tests will be handled solely at the IDTR Kasarwadi centre.
With the revised quota, the Pune RTO will now offer 200 daily appointments for four-wheeler driving tests and 300 slots per day for two-wheeler tests. Additionally, 25 special slots per day have been earmarked for candidates whose learner’s licences are due to expire within the next seven days, ensuring they are not disadvantaged due to time constraints.
Applicants can book their driving test appointments up to 30 days in advance, the RTO said, advising citizens to plan early and make use of the expanded capacity to avoid last-minute delays.
Officials said the move is expected to significantly ease pressure on testing centres and shorten waiting periods for thousands of licence applicants across Pune.
