Shivane, 1st January 2026: A dispute stemming from suspected personal relations took a violent turn in Pune’s Shivane locality, where a 32-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted and splashed with an acid-like substance, police officials said.
The incident occurred around 6.30 pm on December 30 along NDA Road in Shivane. Based on the victim’s statement, Uttamnagar police have registered a case of grievous hurt against two women in connection with the attack.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the prime accused believed her husband was involved in an inappropriate relationship with the victim. Acting on this suspicion, the accused and an accomplice allegedly confronted the woman, physically assaulted her, and forced her to the ground. Police said the attackers struck the victim’s face using a stone picked up from the roadside.
During the assault, one of the accused reportedly poured a corrosive, acid-like liquid from a bottle onto the woman’s face, causing visible injuries and skin irritation. The victim was rushed for medical treatment and is currently undergoing recovery, officials said.
