Pune: ITM University Gwalior team wins the championship; Bhopal University team secures the runner-up position

Pune, 31st December 2025: ITM University Gwalior team won the championship with three victories. Ravindranath Tagore University Bhopal secured the second position, while Savitribai Phule Pune University of Pune claimed the third spot in the West Zone Inter-University Girls’ Hockey Tournament, jointly organized by Savitribai Phule Pune University and T.J. College, Khadki.

In the final Super Four league matches held at the Savitribai Phule Pune University hockey ground, the ITM University Gwalior team easily defeated Ravindranath Tagore University Bhopal 2-1, Savitribai Phule Pune University 1-0, and Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University Ajmer 9-1, remaining undefeated and securing the top position. Ravindranath Tagore University Bhopal defeated Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University Ajmer 8-1. The Bhopal team defeated Savitribai Phule Pune University 3-1 to secure the second position and the runner-up title. In this match, the Pune University team players missed several scoring opportunities. Usha Patel, Ashutra Kawadiya, and Kamarpreet Kaur of Bhopal scored the goals, leading their team to victory.

In an earlier league match, the Savitribai Phule Pune University team defeated Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University Ajmer 4-1, securing their third-place finish. For the All India Inter-University Women’s Hockey Tournament, four teams from the West Zone have qualified by securing the top four positions: ITM University Gwalior, Ravindranath Tagore University Bhopal, Savitribai Phule Pune University, and Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University Ajmer.

The prize distribution ceremony was conducted by Mr. Krishnakumar Goyal, President of Khadki Education Society, Prof. Sanjay Chakne of Tikaram Jagannath College, and Dr. Suresh Gosavi, Vice-Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University. Present on the occasion were Senate members Dr. Ramesh Gaikwad, Dr. Bharat Bhujbal, Dr. Raosaheb Garad, Secretary of Khadki Education Society Anand Chhajed, Director Dr. Kashinath Devdhar, Managing Committee members Bageshri Manthalkar, Dr. Nitin Ghorpade, Dr. Devidas Waydande, Dr. Kavita Kholgade, Director of Physical Education of Pune University Dr. Sudam Shelke, Dr. Shirish More, Ajay Suryavanshi, Dnyaneshwar Murkute, and other dignitaries. Dr. Mahesh Bendbhar, Education Director of T.J. College, gave the introductory remarks.
