PCMC Elections 2026: Ajit Pawar Slams BJP-Led PCMC Over Debt, Corruption; Vows to ‘Break Arrogance of Those in Power’
Pimpri, 7th January 2026: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday launched a blistering attack on the ruling dispensation in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), accusing it of financial mismanagement, corruption, and pushing the civic body into debt through arbitrary governance. Addressing a public gathering, Pawar said he would not relent until the “arrogance of those intoxicated with power is brought to an end.”
Alleging large-scale irregularities during the BJP’s tenure, Pawar claimed that the municipal corporation became debt-burdened due to poor planning and politically driven decisions. “Contracts are awarded selectively. Those who do not toe the line are denied work. Such administrators must be removed. Power and money have gone to their heads, and I will not remain silent until this arrogance is crushed,” he said.
Referring to recent political developments, Pawar said old differences had been set aside. “The trumpet and the clock have come together. What is past is behind us. Now we must work together,” he remarked, adding that the objective was to dismantle the corruption network operating in the city and expose those shielding it.
Targeting the civic body’s financial policies, Pawar criticised the issuance of ₹200 crore worth of Green Bonds, alleging that development was used as a pretext to demolish homes and displace citizens. “If these people return to power, they will once again turn the city upside down,” he warned.
Addressing residents of unauthorised settlements, Pawar said they too were rightful citizens of Pimpri-Chinchwad and assured them support on the issue of property cards. “Announcements may be made by others, but as the district guardian minister, I alone can ensure that your property card issue is resolved,” he asserted.
Reiterating his criticism of the BJP-led civic administration, Pawar said PCMC had suffered from years of unplanned governance. He contrasted this with the Nationalist Congress Party’s earlier rule, claiming that the city witnessed consistent development during that period. “Many major projects were brought to Pimpri-Chinchwad under NCP rule. While the metro was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, the mayor when the project was approved belonged to the NCP,” he said.
Concluding his address, Pawar said democracy allows everyone to present their views. “They will put forward their side, I have stated mine. In the end, the people will hear all sides and deliver their verdict,” he added.
