Wagholi, 11th January 2026: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Mauli Aba Katke has stepped up as the key campaigner for the party in Pune Municipal Corporation Wards 3 and 4, placing local governance, accountability and development at the centre of his outreach.

During door-to-door campaigns, meetings in housing societies, slum pockets and public interactions, Katke has clarified the party’s political position, stating that while the NCP and BJP are partners at the state level to ensure administrative stability, the municipal contest in these wards is about local performance rather than party rivalries.

He has consistently argued that the real challenge in Wards 3 and 4 is the continuation of what he described as decades-long family-centric politics. According to Katke, despite the same groups holding influence in the area for nearly 30 years, residents continue to face unresolved civic issues such as irregular water supply, poor road conditions and lack of systematic development.

“People have seen the same faces for decades, yet basic civic facilities are still missing. Elections should be about work and responsibility, not family dominance,” Katke said while addressing residents during a campaign meeting.

Highlighting Development Record
Katke has also been referring to his work as MLA from the Shirur-Haveli Assembly constituency to underline what he calls result-oriented leadership. He told voters that within a short period, several major development proposals have moved from planning to approval stages, something he attributes to consistent follow-up and coordination with the state government.

In his speeches, Katke has cited approvals for key road and bridge projects, large-scale infrastructure planning and faster clearances from government departments as examples of how proactive leadership can accelerate development.

He maintained that effective governance depends on leaders who are accessible and focused on public interest rather than personal or family influence.

Positive Response on the Ground
The campaign has reportedly received an encouraging response from residents, particularly in large residential societies and among younger voters. Many attendees have said that Katke’s emphasis on measurable work and timelines, rather than legacy politics, resonates with their expectations from civic representatives.

Political observers point out that Katke’s message — coordination with the state government combined with scrutiny of local leadership — appears to be gaining traction in areas where voters are increasingly questioning the lack of visible progress despite long-standing political control.

Campaign Focused on Change
By personally leading rallies, joint meetings and grassroots interactions alongside NCP candidates, Katke is projecting the PMC election in Wards 3 and 4 as a contest between continuity of entrenched local power structures and a development-driven alternative.

With campaigning picking up pace, the wards are witnessing an intensified political debate, with voters being urged to assess candidates on performance, delivery and intent rather than family background or political lineage.
