Pune Weather Update: Minimum Temperatures Rise by Nearly 4°C
Pune, 13th January 2026: The city recorded a noticeable rise in minimum temperatures on Tuesday, January 13, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The Shivajinagar weather station logged a minimum temperature of 14.8°C, nearly 4°C higher than the previous day’s 10.9°C recorded on January 12.
Other parts of Pune also reported warmer nights. Magarpatta recorded the highest minimum temperature at 19.7°C, followed by Wadgaon Sheri at 19.5°C and Chinchwad at 19.1°C.
Weather experts have attributed the rise to changing atmospheric conditions. In a social media post on January 12, Anupam Kashyapi, former head of the weather and forecasting division at IMD Pune, said Maharashtra is likely to see higher night temperatures over the next 24 hours.
He explained that medium- to high-level clouds are present over south-central Maharashtra, including Pune. The partial eastward shift of an anticyclonic wind pattern has allowed northerly winds to reach the region via the Bay of Bengal, resulting in moisture incursion. Cloud cover during the night has further contributed to elevated minimum temperatures.
Kashyapi also noted that around January 19–20, a western disturbance is expected to affect weather conditions, potentially bringing cloudy skies and light rainfall over north and central India, as well as parts of northeast Maharashtra, including Vidarbha.
Another weather expert said Pune is unlikely to experience single-digit minimum temperatures at least until January 19.
