PMC Elections 2026: Aundh–Bopodi’s Next Phase to Focus on Green and Tech-Based Development
Pune, 13th January 2026: Aundh, regarded as the northern gateway of Pune and known for its historical and cultural significance, is now poised to move towards high-tech, eco-friendly and sustainable development, said BJP–RPI alliance candidate from Ward No. 8 (Aundh–Bopodi), Chandrashekhar alias Sunny Vinayak Nimhann.
While the area has already benefited from several facilities under the Smart City initiative, the next phase will focus on quality-driven, technology-based and environmentally sustainable development, Nimhann said. He was speaking at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue Chowk in Aundh after the conclusion of a foot march organised in the ward.
Co-candidates Parshuram Wadekar, Bhakti Gaikwad and Sapna Chhajed, former mayor Dattatray Gaikwad, former corporator Sangeeta Gaikwad, nominated corporator Vasantrao Junwane, members of the Aundh Trust, and a large number of residents from the Aundh–Bopodi area were present on the occasion.
Highlighting the importance of public participation, Nimhann said administrative machinery alone is not sufficient to bring lasting change. “Citizen participation is equally important. Aundh–Bopodi residents must set an example by working together with the system to ensure successful and sustainable development,” he said.
Outlining future priorities, Nimhann stated that the focus would be on delivering high-quality services using advanced technology, strengthening local participation, and ensuring better civic and administrative discipline. These measures, he said, would help transform the area into a model ward for sustainable urban development.
He also stressed the need for environmentally sensitive development of the Mula riverbed and the surrounding ghat areas. Such initiatives, Nimhann said, would help preserve the natural beauty of the region while ensuring long-term ecological balance.
According to him, the proposed development roadmap aims to improve the quality of life for residents while promoting environmental conservation and inclusive growth in the Aundh–Bopodi area.
