Pune, 14th January 2026: As Maharashtra prepares for the crucial Municipal Corporation Elections on January 15, 2026, election authorities are urging citizens to take a simple but essential step well before polling day—verify their names in the electoral roll and confirm their polling booth details. With voting scheduled to take place in a single phase across the state, officials warn that last-minute verification could lead to confusion and inconvenience for voters.

The Maharashtra State Election Commission has stepped up its digital outreach campaign ahead of the civic polls, which will be held in 29 municipal corporations, including the prestigious Pune, BMC, Pimpri-Chinchwad and others. These elections will mark the return of elected local bodies after an extended period of administrative governance. Over one crore eligible voters are expected to exercise their franchise, making voter preparedness a key focus for election officials.

According to the Commission, ensuring one’s name appears in the final voter list is mandatory to cast a vote. To facilitate this process, multiple online platforms have been made available, allowing citizens to check their voter status from the comfort of their homes. Authorities believe early verification will significantly reduce crowding and disputes at polling stations, particularly given the anticipated high turnout.

How to Check Your Name in the Voter List

Voters can verify their registration details by visiting the official website electoralsearch.eci.gov.in, where three search options are available:

Search by EPIC Number: Enter your EPIC (Voter ID) number and select your state to access your voter details.

Search by Personal Details: Provide your name, father’s or spouse’s name, date of birth, state, and district.

Search by Mobile Number: Use your registered mobile number to receive a one-time password (OTP) for verification.

Election officials have advised voters to use these options well in advance to avoid errors or omissions on polling day.

Updating Address and Other Details

For voters who have shifted residences or need to update personal information, the Form 8 option is available on voters.eci.gov.in. This facility allows eligible voters to apply for corrections or address changes in the electoral roll.

In addition to voter verification, authorities have stressed the importance of identifying the correct polling centre beforehand. Voters are encouraged to confirm their assigned booth details online to ensure a smooth and hassle-free voting experience.

With the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Elections 2026 approaching rapidly, election officials continue to appeal to voters to stay informed, verify their details early, and participate actively in strengthening local self-governance.
