Pune: Schools in PMC Limits to Close After 12 PM on January 23, Orders District Collector
Pune, 21st January 2026: In view of the Pune Grand Challenge Tour 2026 international cycling race, the District Collector and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Jitendra Dudi, has ordered that all government and private schools within the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits will remain open only till 12 noon on January 23.
The decision has been taken in connection with Stage 4 of the cycling event, which is scheduled to be held between Balewadi and Balgandharva Rangmandir. The stage will cover a total distance of 58 kilometres.
According to the order, the move aims to prevent traffic congestion in Pune city and avoid inconvenience to school students and parents during the race day. With major routes expected to witness restrictions and diversions, authorities said the partial closure of schools would help ensure smooth conduct of the international sporting event.

The Pune Grand Tour 2026 has drawn global attention, with elite cyclists from several countries competing across multiple stages in and around Pune district.
District officials have appealed to citizens, parents and school managements to cooperate with the administration and follow traffic advisories issued for the race.
