Pune, 27th January 2026: The Pune Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) at Gultekdi witnessed heavy arrivals of vegetables on Sunday (January 25), with nearly 100 trucks reaching the market from different parts of Maharashtra and other states. The supply exceeded demand, leading to a fall in prices of tomatoes and drumsticks, while cucumber prices moved upward. Rates of most other vegetables remained largely stable.

According to market sources, arrivals from outside Maharashtra played a key role in shaping the day’s price trends. Green chillies arrived in around 12 to 13 tempos from Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, while cabbage from Karnataka came in about four to five tempos. Drumsticks were supplied through three to four tempos from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Carrots saw arrivals of nearly 14 to 15 tempos from Rajasthan, and cluster beans (ghevda) reached the market in three to four tempos from Karnataka.

Groundnuts arrived in one tempo each from Karnataka and Gujarat. Peas recorded a major inflow of around 25 to 26 tempos from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Broad beans (pavta) came in three tempos from Karnataka, while one tempo of Totapuri raw mangoes was received from Tamil Nadu. Garlic arrivals from Madhya Pradesh stood at around 10 to 12 tempos. Potatoes, sourced from Indore, Agra and local areas, saw arrivals of 30 to 35 tempos. Onion arrivals touched about 175 tempos.

Local produce arrivals were also significant. Ginger from Satara arrived in about 500 to 550 gunny bags. Okra, cabbage and green chillies recorded arrivals of five to six tempos each. Tomatoes saw a large inflow of around 10,000 to 12,000 crates, while cucumbers arrived in five to six tempos.

Cauliflower arrivals were reported at 10 to 12 tempos, capsicum at 10 to 12 tempos, red pumpkin at 14 to 15 tempos, carrots at three to four tempos, cluster beans at five to six tempos, broad beans at three to four tempos, and onions at around 17 tempos.

Traders said the excess supply, especially of tomatoes and drumsticks, pushed their prices down, while limited availability drove cucumber prices higher. Market officials expect prices to remain mostly stable in the coming days, depending on arrivals and consumer demand.
