Pune Water Supply to Remain Shut in Large Parts of City on Thursday, 29th January
Pune, 27th January 2026: Large parts of Pune will face a complete water supply shutdown for 24 hours on Thursday, January 29, due to urgent electrical and pumping-related maintenance work at key water purification centres, tanks and pumping stations, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced.
According to the PMC Water Supply Department, repair and maintenance work will be carried out at Parvati New and Old Water Treatment Plants, along with associated MLR, HLR and LLR tanks, Parvati Tank Point, Vadgaon Water Centre, Rajiv Gandhi Pumping Station, Camp, Chinchavali, Warje and Vadgaon water facilities. Since power supply and pumping operations will be temporarily stopped for the work, water distribution across a major portion of the city will be affected.
The water supply will be shut from Wednesday midnight (12 am) to Thursday midnight (12 am). PMC has also warned that even after supply resumes on Friday morning, several areas may receive water at low pressure.
Areas under Parvati MLR Tank such as Guruwar Peth, Shukrawar Peth, Kasba Peth, Katraj Gate, Bhavani Peth, Nana Peth, Lohiyanagar, Somwar Peth, Arjun Bhade Stadium area, Ghorpade Peth, Parvati Darshan and parts of Mundhwa Road will remain without water.
Under Parvati HLR Tank, areas including Sahakarnagar, Padmavati, Bibwewadi, Mukundnagar, parts of Chinchwadnagar, Lower and Upper Indiranagar, Shivdarshan, Bibwewadi Gaothan, Aundhkar Nagar, Gangadham, Shelar Mala, Tilak Vasahat, Parvati Gaothan, Mitanagar, Kumar Prithvi and parts of Kondhwa Khurd will be affected.
All Peth areas, Dattawadi, Rajendranagar, Lokmanya Nagar, Deccan area, Shivajinagar and Swargate region under Parvati LLR Tank will also face water cuts.
Areas linked to Vadgaon Water Centre such as Hingne, Anandnagar, Dhayari, Ambegaon Pathar, Dhankawadi, Katraj, Bharati Vidyapeeth area, Ambegaon Khurd-Budruk, Yeolewadi, parts of Sahakarnagar, Tilaknagar, Date Vasahat and surrounding localities will be impacted.
Under Rajiv Gandhi Pumping Station, Santosh Nagar, Dattanagar, Ambegaon Budruk-Khurd, Baner City, Moze, Shrihari Tank, Balaji Nagar, Pawar Hospital area, Kedareshwar Tank, Sukhsagar Nagar, Rajas Society, Unnat Society, Sundarvan Society, Shelar Mala, Katraj Gaothan, Dhankawadi, old Prabhat wards 35 and 45, and Yeolewadi will remain without water.
Due to Cantonment–Kharadi pumping closure, areas including Kharadi Gaothan, Aple Ghar, Tuljabhavani Nagar, EON IT Park area, Chaudhary Vasti, Satav Vasti, Dhanekar Nagar, Yashwantnagar, Chandan Nagar, Sunitanagar, Dharmanagar, Gadiniya, Dhanlaxmi Society, Ganesh Nagar, Anand Park, Rajshree Colony, Matnagar, Mahadevnagar, Malwadi and Manohar Society will also be affected.
The shutdown will further impact areas under Cantonment Water Centre, Warje Water Centre, Gandhi Bhavan, Panchkai Club, GSR Tank, Shivane Industries, SNDT, ALR, Chatushrungi Tank, Holkar Water Centre, Khadakwasla Jackwell and Khadakwasla–Nanded booster pumping zones.
The PMC has appealed to citizens to store adequate water in advance and cooperate with the administration during the shutdown and low-pressure supply period. The Water Supply Department said normal distribution will be gradually restored from Friday after the completion of repair work.
