Pune, 31st January 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formally registered its 119-member corporator group in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), with Ganesh Bidkar continuing as the group leader for a third consecutive term. Bidkar said the party would work with renewed focus to speed up Pune’s overall development and deliver governance that reflects the mandate given by voters in the recent civic elections.

The official registration of the BJP corporator group was completed at Vidhan Bhavan in the presence of Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar. All administrative formalities of the newly elected corporators were finalised during the process. BJP Pune city president Dheeraj Ghate and all BJP corporators were present on the occasion.

Speaking to the media after the registration, Bidkar thanked the party’s senior leadership for reposing faith in him once again. “The responsibility of leading the corporator group for the third consecutive time is an honour. The BJP is committed to making Pune faster, safer and more people-centric. Along with pushing major infrastructure projects such as the Pune Metro and river rejuvenation, our priority will also be to resolve the everyday civic problems faced by common Punekars,” he said.

Bidkar added that the BJP corporators would function in close coordination to ensure effective governance at the PMC and improve civic amenities across all wards. “The people of Pune have given us a clear mandate by electing 119 BJP corporators. We will justify their trust with concrete, result-oriented work,” he said.

Tribute to Ajit Pawar

Bidkar also paid tribute to the late Deputy Chief Minister and Pune district’s guardian minister Ajit Pawar, calling his demise a major loss for Maharashtra. “While discharging various responsibilities in the municipal corporation, I always received positive and valuable support from Ajit Dada for the city’s development. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, all BJP corporators will work unitedly to realise his vision of a modern, developed and capable Pune,” he said.
